The independent Cricket Discipline Panel (CDP) has issued its sanction decision in relation to Fynn Hudson-Prentice for a breach of the Anti-Discrimination Regulations and the Professional Conduct Regulations, having used a racist word on 23 September 2025 towards a group of teammates.
Mr Hudson-Prentice accepted the charge, and the Cricket Discipline Panel has imposed the following sanction:
- A reprimand;
- The requirement to complete a suitable education or training course to be agreed with the Cricket Regulator;
- A one match suspension, which has already been served (Mr Hudson-Prentice was immediately stood down for a fixture by Sussex CCC when the matter came to light).
In coming to the decision, Sara Crowther KC, the sole adjudicator said that “I find that the term used was extremely serious and shocking and constitutes an aggravating factor…Against that, however, there are mitigating factors. This was a one-off incident, and I accept the evidence that this was wholly out of character and also outside the prevailing culture at Sussex CCC…I also take account of his full acceptance of his fault and his attempts to apologise. His remorse is complete and genuine in my judgment.”
Managing Director of the Cricket Regulator Chris Haward said: “I would like to thank Sussex CCC for their co-operation and handling of this matter.
“Discriminatory language has no place in the game of cricket or wider society. Language of this type damages the sport in harming its goal of being an inclusive and welcoming game for all. The use of such language is never acceptable. Where language or behaviour of this nature or any other form of discrimination occurs, the Cricket Regulator will act and hold those accountable. Ensuring that cricket is a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all is a priority for the Cricket Regulator.
“Anyone who has experienced any type of discriminatory behaviours in cricket can contact the Cricket Regulator via integrity@cricketregulator.co.uk or safeguarding@cricketregulator.co.uk."
