The independent Cricket Discipline Panel (CDP) has issued its sanctions decision in relation to a coach working in the professional game, after he was charged following allegations of sexual misconduct whilst working at a Professional County Cricket Club. Due to exceptional circumstances regarding the health of that coach and the serious risk of harm identified if his name was to be published, his name has been redacted.
The coach admitted the charges relating to two breaches of Regulation 3.3 Professional Conduct Regulations against two separate victims in the summer of 2023 and early 2024.
The CDP issued the coach with a nine-month suspension from cricket and a requirement to complete an education course. Three months of the sanction were suspended for a period of 12 months due to the full acceptance of responsibility, strong evidence of remorse and effective remedial education (including attending the ‘Professional Boundaries’ and ‘Recognising Harassment’ courses).
Managing Director of The Cricket Regulator Chris Haward said: “There is no place for sexual misconduct in cricket and the Cricket Regulator will not hesitate to take action to investigate a matter where such behaviour is evident. This kind of conduct is unacceptable. Where such instances are identified they will be investigated and those responsible will be held to account. Removing sexual misconduct from the game is a priority for the Cricket Regulator. We recognise that it takes a lot of courage for those impacted to come forward. We are committed to investigating thoroughly and expeditiously when allegations are raised with us, whether current or in the past.”
The Regulator thanks the county for their assistance in this matter and praise the openness and courage of those who reported this misconduct.
